Libraries are the heart of every school from elementary school through college; the library offers a haven for students who need references for projects and tasks. They are extensions of the schools that offer the knowledge and quiet space for students to bridge the gap in their education. Traditional libraries contain a normal amount of encyclopedias, books and periodicals meticulously organized under the System Dewey Decimal Classification. Only a few years ago had the physical library catalog card where borrowers have to sort alphabetically organized series of fact sheets containing the book title, author and subject.

Virtual libraries, web sites and portals lists of books and media stored. They are resources that can be used for e-learning tools for students. Most of the virtual library network has offices in physical libraries. The content is still limited and most of the time, the library shows only the availability of the book you are looking for and you have to physically check the book. However, there is a library portal, where content is free and fair.

World Digital Library (WDL) is an online portal that connects the contents of the library in 6 continents. The project led to the Library of Congress, the largest library in the world, with the participation of partner institutions in other countries. WDL is also supported by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), with funding from private foundations and companies.
